Whale Watching Tour

In 2006, Nico Muhly, Ben Frost and Valgeir Sigurdsson founded the Iceland-based label, Bedroom Community. Now, together with Sam Amidon, they have embarked on a European tour with a collective project called Whale Watching Tour. More than just a series of concerts, the tour presents itself as a unique musical experience, a cocktail of artists with similar concerns but from a wide range of musical backgrounds.

A Graduate of the Juilliard School for composition, the young Nico Muhly has been causing significant ripples in modern music circles with a variety of projects. He has collaborated closely with artists like Antony (from Antony and the Johnsons) and had a long-standing relationship with Philip Glass, working on numerous stage works and film soundtracks. He performed on Björk's album Medúlla and helped arrange her score for Matthew Barney's film, Drawing Restraint 9. But without doubt, his music from the film, The Reader, has been the project which has attracted the widest public attention.

Muhly, together with Australian-born musician and composer Ben Frost (best-known for his 2007 experimental music release, Theory of Machines), Valgeir Sigurdsson (a producer who has also collaborated with Björk and Sigur Rós, amongst others) and independent folk artist and banjo player, Sam Amidon, now make up the unique Whale Watching Tour experience.
