This work deals with four crucial days in the lives of two young people who have chosen the back room of a bar to hide themselves away from everyone. Each with different motives, each ignorant of almost everything about the other, about the world and about themselves. Bar tells the story of their struggle against this ignorance, often through long, silent, thought-filled passages. Bar explores a world of loneliness, abuse and humiliation but also the hope of reviving powerful feelings such as friendship, love and solidarity.
The characters, created with originality and sharp-humoured dialogue, immerse the audience in a dense and resonant moment in time, under the guidance of director Valerio Binasco. Bar was written in 1996 by Spiro Scimone who is also presenting another work, Nunzio, at this year's Festival de Otońo. Another of his pieces, La Festa, was received with great success and public acclaim at last year's festival.
