TRUST is an intelligent, aesthetically enticing, and, in part, extremely entertaining voice and body performance that tries to answer the question: what monstrosity has been born from a society without faith in either interpersonal relations or in economic policies?

Couples who come together, couples who break up. Things they buy themselves, things they sell. How does the current crisis affect our way of understanding the world? How does it affect our relationships? Actors from the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz theatre company and the anougvandijk dance company explore the fragile foundations of human relations when confronted with difficult situations. The intensification of individualism, the idolisation of independence and the celebration of competition are analysed in this work about financial collapse and social bankruptcy which, according to the critics, surprises through its "sharpness, humour and fury".
Ever since it was formed in 1962, Berlin's Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz has presented contemporary and experimental theatre works, featuring a mix of its own as well as international productions in addition to pieces from the classical repertoire. Today, under the leadership of Thomas Ostermeier, it is one of the great European temples of theatre. TRUST is a hybrid piece by writer and theatre director, Falk Richter, and choreographer and dancer, Anouk van Dijk. In 2000, the pair were invited to the Theatertreffen de Berlín festival to present their choreographic work, Nothing Hurts. Since then, both artists have followed each other's respective careers and found a way of once again working together on stage.
TRUST is the result of a shared dream. The work was premiered in Berlin on October 10, 2009.
