A precise demonstration of her ability to reconcile dance with such an individual personal style and technical skill, and her absent gaze with the fluidity delivered to an always-present audience...
- La Nueva España
After Daisy Planet and Suite au dernier mot, the choreographer, dancer, musician, actress and visual artist Olga Mesa presents Solo a ciegas (con lágrimas azules), an unexpected work which brings together all the tools of her theatre research and which premiered in Lisbon earlier this year on March 14. The stage is filled with mirrors for a choreography which allows views from every angle and which has its inspiration in the origins of a latent common memory. This is the memory of Antón "the Argentinean", a grandfather who disappears under the shadow of an unfinished story in Buenos Aires, which takes place a few years before the Spanish Civil War. It is a memory shared with the audience, the ever-present companion in this invented tango-poem with its fragmented and revealing stories, and with fellow-travellers such as Puccini, Pasolini, Verlaine, Walser and Monteiro.
