The son and grand-daughter of Violeta Parra give affectionate renditions of the songs of love and struggle by the renowned Chilean folk singer-songwriter. Five musicians join Ángel and Javiera to perform classics such as Gracias a la vida, La jardinera, Corazón maldito and Volver a los 17.
The concert also features a 1964 documentary by Swiss TV company, Télévision Suisse Romande, which includes an interview with Violeta Parra in which she explains her artistic beliefs and motivations. Ángel Parra, who began his musical career as an adolescent together with his mother and sister, has worked with many other Latin American music legends including Pablo Milanés, Atahualpa Yupanqui and Víctor Jara. His daughter, Javiera, has also achieved significant success through her own group, Javiera y Los Imposibles.
