A disturbed minister who has lost his faith and been thrown out of his church, spends a few months in a mental institution before starting work as a tourist guide in Mexico. A young seductress, a beachside hotel, a beautiful widow hooked on alcohol and sex and an innocent painter who wanders the world with her hundred-year-old poet grandfather.
"I've come to rely on the kindness of strangers", says the character, Blanche Dubois, in the play, A Streetcar Named Desire, by Tennessee Williams (1911-1983). For María Ruiz, director of this (Spanish) version of The Night of the Iguana (La noche de la iguana), this legendary phrase is a constant feature in the work of the playwright and an essential element of this work which is not about losers but about lost beings.
